Meet Paige

Mum of three. Former lawyer. Lover of pretty things. Founder of Little Fig.

Originally from North Devon, I now live in a little village just outside Wellington with my family. Before Little Fig, I spent ten years as a commercial property lawyer.

Before law, there was motorsport. Working front of house across events and VIP hospitality. It was fast-paced, glamorous, occasionally chaotic and probably where my love of creating memorable experiences and looking after people began - two things that have definitely followed me into Little Fig.

After my most recent baby, I reached a crossroads. I could continue along the traditional path towards partnership in a law firm, or take a leap and build something of my own.

I chose the leap.

I wanted something different

Motherhood changes the way we see the world in many ways, and for me, it certainly changed the way I saw children’s spaces. I would take my girls to soft play and leave feeling completely frazzled. Big, noisy, chaotic spaces where you could barely see your own children. Food that felt like an afterthought. And, the general feeling that, as a parent, you were there to survive it rather than enjoy it.

I kept thinking, “surely there must be a better way?”, so, I decided to create one.

Little Fig is designed to be different. A little smaller, a little calmer, a lot more considered. Somewhere children can play, explore and imagine wildly - while the grown-ups can actually sit down, have a proper coffee, eat something delicious and enjoy being there too.

Because, I don’t want Little Fig to be somewhere you endure because your children need entertaining. I want it to be somewhere you genuinely look forward to coming to.

Built by a mother, for families

My children have been at the heart of Little Fig from the very beginning. In many ways, I am creating the space I wanted for them. Building the kind of place I wish we had when I was on maternity leave. Motherhood has taught me many things, but one of the biggest is:

We listen and we don’t judge.

Because parenthood is raw. It is powerful, joyful, exhausting, hilarious and sometimes really bloody hard and parents are quite frankly, superheroes. Little Fig is my little contribution to making those days out feel just that bit easier. A place where you can come as you are. Where your children can play freely, explore, be curious and be completely themselves.

So… what happens next?

After months of planning, spreadsheets, decisions, deliveries, dust and the occasional “what on earth have I done?” moment, we are nearly ready. I am so excited to see Little Fig filled with children. To watch them explore, play, make friends and disappear into their own little worlds.

I am excited for the first coffee to be poured. The first birthday to be celebrated. The first friendship to be made. But more than anything, I am excited to see my children experience the place I have imagined for them.

I have spent so long thinking about the tiny details - the things that make a space feel welcoming, the things that make grown ups lives a little easier and the things that make children want to stay and play just a little bit longer. Now I just want to open the doors and let Little Fig become what it is meant to be.

welcome to little fig
